So I kind of let this blog lapse a little bit (again). Whoops. So here’s a review of 2016, and my goals for 2017:
January: I turned 27 at the beginning of January of 2016, I loved 26, but was excited to hop both feet into 27! Had a very low-key birthday dinner with some friends.
February: My poor puppy Bomber caught parvo in February, about a month and a half after he was fully vaccinated, which was a scary shock for us! Luckily, we caught it early enough that he was able to come home with us and not have to stay at the vet, and he did not get any of the extreme symptoms, only vomiting. We had two weeks of quarantine and bland food at home, but otherwise he was just fine!
March: Threw a surprise birthday party for Jared, sent him out ice fishing all day and genuinely surprised him! Should have saved it for this year, seeing he turns 30, but oh well! I’ve got fun plans for his party this year 😀 Here’s the only picture I took at that party, and it was of Bomber sleeping on the floor not caring about all of the people over!
April: I was a bridesmaid for my cousins Charlene, and in April they held their Pre-Wedding Social (it’s a thing in Manitoba where couples rent a hall, sell entry tickets, people come and drink, dance and get 50/50 and silent auction prizes, all proceeds go to the couple) and it was a Comic-Com theme, and I made Ewok hoods for my sister and I! I have worn mine a bunch of times since!
May: Jared and I ran Color Me Rad in Winnipeg, it was a super rushed day because we had to get back into Thompson for a friend’s Pre-Wedding social (they are a huge thing in our town okay?), but we had a lot of fun!
June: Nickel Days in Thompson! One of the biggest events in our town in our annual Nickel Days! We bring up a huge fair with rides, games and more! We also have a big Social/Concert and a huge parade! It is a VERY busy day for me! I dressed up as Max from Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak for my work’s (Library) annual float!
July: Vacation! We headed West for a wedding this summer and made a big vacation out of it! We saw the Rockies, went touring on the motorcycle and had an amazing time! We also got to explore a variety of Dog Parks with Bomber! That was fun! I was also a bridesmaid in my cousin’s wedding, and it was an amazing wedding! A lot of rain, but we’re Scottish, it’s good luck 😉
August: August was a pretty slow month for us, we were so busy in July and spent so much money on vacation and what not that we slowed down and relaxed, enjoyed the last of summer. Bomber went on his first boat ride, which he absolutely LOVED.
September: We were busy again in September! Bomber turned 1, we won our division in softball, had yet another wedding, and Bomber got fixed!
October: We got a HUMONGOUS dump of snow really early in October, it pretty much sent the town into a frenzy – we had snow days, tons of accidents and very sudden cold weather! Jared and I also dressed up as zztop and one of the girls from the “Legs” video, and we went and saw a live band that night 🙂
November: I decided to take the plunge and become a Beach Body Coach, and while I have had zero success in the business so far, keeping up with challenge groups, workouts, posting on social media and all that has taken more of my time than I expected. I started my journey in November with the 21 Day-Fix and Shakeology, and I went from very sporadically working out to working out 4-5 times a week, with just short 30 minute workout videos, I can get my workout in at home – even when I think I am “too busy” that day. I don’t have to pack up my gym stuff, warm up the car, drive to the gym and potentially have to wait my turn for equipment or get interrupted by someone I know wanting to chat. I can go into my basement, get my workout done, then get on with the rest of my busy day. I’ve also joined a great team of ladies that keep me accountable and I never would have met if it weren’t for Beach Body! For that I am grateful. You can follow me on Instagram for workout videos, pictures and more! (I’ll post more in a follow up post)
December: Christmas and New Years! (of course), I made dumpling with my Mum, we hosted an ABC party at our house for New Years as a birthday party for me and a few friends, it was SO much fun!
And now we are in 2017, I am now 28 years old and I have made some new goals for myself!
Here are my main goals for 2017:
- Run the Manitoba Half Marathon on June 18th, 2017
- Read books only written by women (unless assigned to review)
- Improve my posture greatly (a rotator cuff injury has my shoulders out of whack)
- Grow my tribe
- Love more genuinely
- Be more positive
- Hike more
- Continue writing my story on Wattpad
- Create more (whether on this blog, crafting, writing, photos for my Instagram or DIY beauty products), I do not want to sit idle in 2017
- Learn at least 3 new skills in 2017
Some things to look forward to in 2017:
- Red Hot Chili Peppers concert in May
- Manitoba Half Marathon in June (my first!)

- and SO much more!
