On May 6th, 2017 I decided to take the Takesumi 30 Day Detox with their Charcoal deodorant from Kaia Naturals, which I ordered off of Petal & Post, a Canadian Company. I decided to switch to an all-natural deodorant (as well as other all-natural products) for the second half of my pregnancy, as I was reading up on the effects of deodorant on an unborn baby.

Kaia Naturals encourages detoxers to read up on the different stages of detox that your body will go through over the next 4 weeks, switching from conventional products to charcoal based ones doesn’t exactly get your body used to it over night. They also encourage participants to write about their experience and I’m also down for Blog topics falling into my lap! 😛

Week One (May 6th-May 12th):

I noticed almost no difference in myself in the first week of the detox, Kaia Naturals does hint towards this. I never felt the need to reapply and I didn’t notice any excess sweating or smell.

Week Two (May 13th-May 19th):

I will be perfectly honest, I felt super STICKY every single day of this week, I’m assuming it means that the detox process is actually starting, after a week of acclimating.  I had to reapply almost EVERY DAY of this week, I felt like I was just a big sweaty mess! I also felt like my pores were clogged, and showered a bit more this week than normal.

Week Three (May 20th – May 26th):

It was more of the same this week, I felt like I had a stronger odour than I’m used to and this deodorant just wasn’t working. I know they warn you of this in the detox guide but I still struggled with it.

Week 4 (May 26th – June 2):

Finally! I feel absolutely normal with this deodorant, this means I have successfully made the transition to natural deodorant! After last week’s smelly mess and the week before’s sweat fest, I almost gave up on this deodorant, but I’m glad I didn’t!

Week 5 (June 3rd – June 9th):

Having successfully detoxed and past the thirty day mark, I can definitely say of the three varieties that came in the trio pack I bought, the Lime Mint (the others were Juicy Bamboo and Pressed Rose) was my favourite, and I will be ordering a larger size in that one once I have finished these three off!
