Don’t Overcomplicate Blogging

Do you ever feel like you don’t have the right tools or skills to be a blogger? I’m here to tell you that you are over complicating blogging!

Do you have a smartphone and/or a computer and a passion that you want to share with the world? Congratulations! You have what it takes to be a blogger!

I will be perfectly honest, I do a large portion of my blogging tasks from my phone, I’m even sitting here drafting this post on my phone while watching Bob Burgers and Baby G resists bedtime. I also answer comments, keep up with my blog email, do all of my scheduling/social media from my phone and edit many of my images/graphics from my phone – this post outlines my favourite apps!

I also take all of my pictures on my phone, we don’t have a camera yet, and while it’s on the big list of things we’d like to buy – it has gotten bumped down while life happens! This dream catcher hangs in Baby G’s room, and below it is his funky night light, put them together with a steady hand and it’s not too bad of a picture! I also have a inexpensive tripod (LINK) for when I’d like to be in a picture or I need it to be really steady!

The key is definitely natural lighting, I almost never use my flash, because iPhone flashes make every picture worse, so avoid it at all costs!

I also take full advantage of iPhone’s ‘Notes’ app, it’s where I keep blog post ideas, format Instagram captions and keep my to-do lists for blogging/social media on days that I’m not in the house all day!

So what are you waiting for? Start your blog! And don’t forget – it’s yours, no one else can dictate your content, schedule, theme or look. Just don’t steal anyone else’s content and your golden. Get writing!

Tips:

– Join an affiliate program if you ever talk about products on your blog, here’s a list here (LINK)

– if you’re in it for the long haul, buy your domain early! (yourwebsitehere)@freesite.com doesn’t look professional!

Until next time,
