Have you ever decided to run a niche account on Instagram? It can be a lot of fun! This summer I decided to run a hidden fairy account which I called Fairy Garden Takeover. I have two fairy figurines that I hid in different places in my parent’s yard and garden, and added some sparkles to the pictures and posted them to Instagram!
A bit of back story to this account – a few years ago my parents were doing some deck renovations and the wood came with footprint markers on it, and my niece decided that they were fairy footprints, and she would marvel at them every time she came over, especially seeing she didn’t realize that there weren’t any new footprints coming on the deck, but there were enough of them that she didn’t notice all of the prints every time. She also passed the wonder onto her brother when he was old enough to look for the footprints.
Unfortunately, this summer the magic started fading for my niece, and she started marking the footprints she found when she came for a visit, so my parents and I came up with a plan! We ordered two fairies (one Blonde, one Brunette
) and my dad converted a garden ornament into a fairy house that we could put up in a tree and we got to work.
Our main worry was that the kids wouldn’t believe that fairies were in the yard, but trust me, it has gone amazingly!
Since finding the fairy house they have continually looked for any signs of the fairies, as well as continually asking if any of us have seen them! I personally have had a lot of fun setting up and taking the pictures! I’ve even gotten Bomber involved!
I’ve also had a lot of fun finding great places to hide the fairies in the pictures
I also took the opportunity on the account to showcase nature pictures, which don’t fit well with my regular blog account
I know I’m not an all-star photographer, and that I took all of these pictures on my phone – but I had a lot of fun with it!
What is something fun you did this summer?
Until next time
