Life in a Pandemic

2020 really hasn’t turned out the way we were hoping has it? COVID-19 has really thrown a lot for a loop. People all over the world are sick and dying, school’s cancelled, attractions are closed, we can’t spend time with our friends, our kids can’t even play on a play structure. I guess this is life in a global pandemic.

I guess it could be worse.

This is the first time a major global catastrophe is happening and all that is required out of most of us is just staying home. That’s right, most of us are fighting the spread of COVID-19 by staying home and watching Netflix, staying in our pajamas, doing crafts and cuddling or kids/pets/partners/etc. Some people seem to have slowed down so much that they are actually connecting with their families for the first time in a long time, so there’s that bonus.

I do have some personal thoughts/questions though.

  • What’s life going to look like after all of this blows over?
  • Who is protecting the kids who may not have a great home life?
  • What happens to the people who suffer from domestic abuse?
  • What happens if our health care system can’t cope?
  • Will we become a police state because so many people just refuse to practice social distancing and staying home when they feel ill, and the government has to enforce it?
  • How long will this be our new normal?
  • How long until violence erupts in grocery stores? Certainly people can’t need more toilet paper and hand sanitizer?
  • What happens when the companies have lost so much money that all of their prices rise when they can operate as normal, but all of the jobs lost haven’t been replaced.
  • How will the government recoup revenue after providing so much relief? What will healthcare, education and essential services look like?
  • Will I ever be free of this dread?
  • What is life going to look like for G as he grows up?

I know this too shall pass, but right now I am just constantly worried.

How are you feeling lately? Let me know in the comments – remember, we may be social distancing, but we don’t have to be alone.

Until next time,
