This week marks my 29th week of pregnancy, which means I am in my third and final trimester of this pregnancy (dun dun dun!) and we’re on the home stretch until we get to meet Bump! It also means that we’re essentially in the crunch time of getting ready for their arrival (anyone else freaking out about this part? No? Just me? Okay..) and I feel like all of a sudden we went from just nonchalantly preparing as time passed to go time!
This must be what that nesting feeling is.
I do not like it!
I do not like this panicking feeling that I am ill-prepared for my child – when there is honestly NO REASON to feel this way! My child is coming into the world and will be loved and cared for, with a roof over their head and food in their belly – does the rest even matter? It probably doesn’t, but I still can’t shake the feeling.
Despite that, this baby is coming whether or not I feel prepared for them, not that there is anything I can do to calm myself in the meantime (damn you hormones!)
But anyways ..
Here are some of the highlights of my second trimester:
- I blogged WAY more during my second trimester
- I developed hormonal acne, leg cramps and other aches and pains
- I got a Fetal Assessment done
- Baby started kicking and dancing around my womb as if they were in Footloose
- I got my energy back! (well.. mostly)
- I started getting acid reflux at night (not fun..)
- Felt baby’s spine through my belly one day.. that was weird!
- I reached roughly 27 pounds above my pre-pregnancy weight (a sore spot on my end)
- My bump really popped!
I struggle daily between loving my pregnant body and feeling as if I’m an absolute whale of a woman who is already planning postpartum workouts to work on myself again, because at this point it’s not really about me, it’s about the baby – which is totally fine. I’ve dealt with the leg cramps, not being able to sleep on my stomach, weird pain, constant doctor’s appointments, acid reflux and expanding body with ease (can’t you tell? HA!). Let’s just say I’m counting down the days until my Maternity Leave starts (32) and my due date (70) and can’t wait to have this Bump in my arms and not in my belly.
Stay tuned for more (what feels like) complaining while I navigate through this wonderful nesting feeling and home stretch until we become a family of four!
Until next time,
Amanda xo.
