It’s January 3rd, which means only one thing – IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!!28 was a whirlwind of a year that I was not expecting when it first started, as I spent most of 28 pregnant with Baby G! Now that’s he’s here and we have a pretty well established routine (until his teething takes full effect that is!), I’ve decided to make a list of goals for my 29th year on this earth!
- Blog Consistently and Genuinely
This is something I give myself as a goal pretty much every time I set goals for myself. I love this blog, and I haven’t been able to put the effort in that I expected to. I’ve been blogging on this particular site for a little over 2 years and I don’t see any end in sight. I want to continue to blog about things I love (lifestyle, mommy blogging, reviews and DIY) and not concern myself with the numbers! I know people are reading my content, and I’m going to try and put out the consistent content for them!
2. Make Time to Take Care of Myself
Hi there, new mom here. There are days where I don’t change out of my pjs, or don’t eat or drink as much as I should. 29 is going to be the year that I make sure I take care of myself, because I cannot take care of G or Bomber if I don’t take care of myself first! That means washing and brushing my hair more than 1-2 times a week, changing out of my pjs every day and doing things for myself on a regular basis! This mommy needs to pamper herself sometimes! I’ve also made a goal for G and I to attend a local Mommy and Me fitness group starting in a few weeks! I have to get back into the swing of exercising – I think my post partum body is ready!
3. Craft Regularly
A lot of people told me that when G was born, I’d never have time for crafting. Well that wasn’t the case! After G was born I knit the following Christmas gifts:
- 3 pairs of socks
- 2 hats
- 1 blanket
- 1 dinosaur hood
- 1 Christmas Stocking (for G)
Being a parent doesn’t have to mean that your interests fade away to nothing. It just means that you have to make a conscious effort to do them. Even if it means shirking housework one afternoon to complete a DIY project to save your sanity. Doing a DIY project for yourself, for a gift or for sale is a great way to keep up with your own interests, as long as you stick within your budget on supplies!
4. Read More
I am honestly ashamed at the amount of books that I read in 2017. I spent more time asleep and too busy being pregnant and uncomfortable for reading. I don’t need to read anything hardcore, or even anything new, but reading is important! I’m thinking of reading G the first Harry Potter book out loud to him. I now have 3 different editions so I think it would be fun!
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone: Illustrated Edition
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone – Gryffindor Edition
I also would like to start listening to audio books with G during the day rather than watching the obscene amount of TV we do at present!
5. Spend More Time Outside
I spend way too much time inside. When it’s -41C it is acceptable. When it’s +15C and sunny, not so much. I need to make an effort to spend more time outside. In the summer G will be edging closer to the 1 year mark and I don’t want him to shun the outside like his mother. My goal for next summer is that we will spend time outside, maybe planting a garden of some sort that we can decorate plant markers for as a craft!
6. Be More Positive to Changed That May Come
I have a hard time with change, but change must happen to grow and achieve your goals, so I need to work better at resisting change and opportunity. It’s weird that I’m this way now when a decade ago, at age 19 I packed up and moved to Nova Scotia to go to school with little hesitation!
And there you have it! My major goals for 29!
What goals do YOU have for this year? Let me know in the comments!
Until next time,
Amanda, xo.
