New Mum Files – Baby Bath and Body Products I CANNOT Live Without!

Parents! Don’t you sometimes feel like your life revolves around your child’s skin? Sometimes it’s a struggle to find products that play nicely with your baby’s skin! Here are some products that I absolutely LOVE for Baby G.

  1. Drapolene Diaper Cream

Drapolene cream – 200 g

Drapolene is a much loved product among my family members! It is a diaper cream that my Grandma used in Scotland, and often brought it back to Canada from Scotland for her kids and grand-kids (and now her great grand-kids like Baby G). I don’t want to overgeneralize and say that this cream is miraculous, but it is! I have been lucky enough to say that G has not had any bad rashes in his 3 1/2 months, and I can thank Drapolene! While I use Coconut Oil for G’s normal days, I put a bit of Drapolene when he seems a bit red or spotty, and they don’t last a full 24 hours! I have even used it for some of his baby acne and other rashes that have arose, all short lived! It is also good for burns, though I personally haven’t tested it on G because he’s never been burnt.

2. Aveeno Soothing Relief Creamy Wash

Aveeno Baby Soothing Relief Creamy Wash, 354ml

Poor G, he got his Mum’s sensitive skin, which means that his skin reacts to a lot of soaps and lotions. We stocked up on this soap while I was still pregnant, and I used it on myself for a while to test it out (and to get Bomber used to baby smells) and it is so gentle! Neither G or I have had any reaction to it!

I mix this soap and a bit of baking soda in G’s baths to keep his skin at ease!

3. Skinfix Gentle Eczema Balm

Skinfix Gentle Eczema Balm

As I said before, G has his Mum’s sensitive skin, and my Dad found this lotion and it has had such a different from the lotion we had when he was a newborn! It definitely helps with the dryness in the air here in Northern Manitoba, we’ve been hitting -30 to -40 C lately!

4. Aveeno Calming Comfort Lotion

Aveeno Baby Calming Comfort Fast-Absorbing Lotion

For good skin days, and before bed, I often put this Lavender-Vanilla scented lotion to help him calm down for bed (which all mums know is sometimes a struggle!) This is the only scented lotion that I haven’t had a reaction to!

Don’t forget how much I love Aveeno!

5. Baby Oil with Aloe Vera Gel

Johnson’s Baby Oil Gel with Aloe Vera and Vitamin E, 200 ml

G has gotten a few bouts of Cradle Cap (or as I’ve been affectionately calling it, Cradle Crap) and while I tried coconut oil and a few other methods, using a bottle of Baby Oil Gel that I was gifted that I never thought I would use has given me the fastest results! All I do is put a dime sized amount on the problem area 2-3 a week and after rubbing it in I massage his head by rubbing a baby brush (which he got as a gift from his cousin L) in circular motions over the problem area, then I wipe the excess away and brush his hair normally. I then make sure I wash his hair really well the next bathtime!
